From what I've been told, 250-275 for a big block is about optimal running temps...anything less could be so rich that it actually puts more stress on parts, and that's when weird things like that start to happen. Looks a little gooey in spots there too, which might point to being too rich....
I know how it feels to lose a new motor though...suuuucks...:pullhair:

haha yes it does
it is ok i will sell it all it needs is a new piston
and that motor was not race legal haha
so now i can get a race legal one:D
but now the fun part saveing the 200 some $$ to get one
:]

what do you mean that that motor is not race legal who told you? thats what the revo's ran on the roar nationals won 1st place, i have some 3.3's too and that tends to happen to them happend to my brother too just what happend to you might be a flaw at manufacturing

I am pretty sure that an unmodded 3.3 should run from 200 at the lowest up to 250 at the highest.

You can trade in the old engine through the Traxxas Engine Replacement plan. Send them your worn out/broken engine and they will send you a new engine. For $110 plus $5 Shipping and handling they will send you a 3.3 with a pull start. You can either use the pull start or take it off and use the EZ start. :jumpy:

Well there's your problem traxxas states it needs 200 degree or more especially on break in so that you dont have stress on your internal parts and end up with cracked piston and blown up rods

that was a ugly ouch....and it is as bad to run your engine to rich as it is to lean...get it over 220 to 265 and you will be ok....just watch your smoke and listen to the motor and preformance....everything will be ok...

ERP is a joke. $110+$5 shipping+$10 to ship your old engine=$125. New 3.3 at my LHS is $135.

I don't understand how you even keep a truck running 170-200 degrees. If it is running that cool it's got to be slow as balls. Maybe you should reread your owners manual. I've never heard of anyone trying to keep there temps between 170-200. Sounds like you need an electric truck.

If it's too fast in a Rusty then don't use full throttle. I've never heard anyone say they improperly tuned their truck because it was too fast. Going fast is the point of nitro rc, I thought.

i have traded in two 2.5r for 3.3 engines they retail at the local shop for 145.00 and i walk out the door including 8% tax for 134.00 not bad for giving a junk engine to reduce the cost! want to see a joke prices look at hpi trade in discounts!
