Well been looking at this heap of parts I've collected and figured its time to start a maxx powered project.
I had a vintage Kyosho Ultima chassis plate and a T-Maxx chassis plate.

Hard to see but T-Maxx chassis plate has been marked to be cut.
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/zues_lil_buddy/Project/IMG_1109.jpg

After the cut, and polished its mounted to the Ultima chassis plate.

Mock up of rear suspension.
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/zues_lil_buddy/Project/IMG_1111.jpg
In doing the mock up of rear i realized the front set of holes where the maxx chassis plate would mount to the bulks would have to go but np.

Rear suspension, aluminum skid. mounted and steering rack in place.

Figuring as short as this thing is its gonna do wheelies like crazy so I figure the need of a wheely bar.

http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/zues_lil_buddy/Project/IMG_1119.jpg
Thats where I'm at as of now I'll post more pics as I go.
My Robinson FOC tranny came in yesterday.
I set it in place looks like things will work out fine.
Just waiting on the rest of the parts before I can really do much.
Pic of chassis with tranny in place:
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/zues_lil_buddy/Project/IMG_1139.jpg

Ton of parts will be coming in the mail and fedex hoping to be doing an update at weeks end.

Parts coming:
1 center shaft
XXX-NT front suspension
Front rims/tires
.15 a-arms (the 2.5 arms make it too wide for its legnth)
and a few othe Miss. parts

Got my work cut out for me but I'm up for it, hoping to build something I can say I built and can be proud of when its done.
Any input is welcome, or lets see your project

Lookin pretty cool man! Did you decide to do this just to use the parts you had laying around and to say you built it?
Better question, let me rephrase, what's it centered towards? basher, racer ect.

zueslilbuddy
11-14-2007, 06:32 PM
Just something to do.
I dont race so i guess a basher.
Ya started as just using a bunch of spares from my build of 3 t-maxx's
Now its starting to cost me a little but I dont think I'll have to put much in it.
I probably got like $45.00 in it for parts I've purchased the tranny being the most of that.
Getting a new 3.3 for my maxx so my 2.5 from the maxx is going in it hehehhehe

i just seen this post ! you are nuts! that kyosho chassis looks just like the one i bout from my buddy back in 1995(?) that had a sprint car body and plastic roll cage on it never got it going but made a big $$ off it on ebay for being a middle man :) looks cool would like to see a video of it when you are done. to me it looks like one of the huge tractors that would come to the fair and to the tractor pulls ! -short wheel base large tires on the rear, and the angle of the chassis ...should try to build a long hood and put a set of fenders on it with a set of weights on the front and start pulling...rcx show they do it. i bet with a locker in the rear the thing would pull alot! -arick

It looks like an off-rooad funny car!!!
Just wondering, is it 4wd, or just RWD?
either way, your gonna get instant and endless wheelies unless you have that wheelie bar almost on the ground from the start...lol

Love the way that revo pipe makes it look and a full set of matching shocks aint to shabby either.
I'm pretty happy with the way the servo holder came out too

looks like a fun lil toy.
Wish I had the time to do that stuff. I made a 1/6 newbright rc car into a real one but that was easy and still took me 2 months lol. now I gotta get some better than traxxas stock elecs into in now that I know it all works right. Kinda cool to see something you made, go

Mount it up, that lid looks killer on there. I wish I could find a unmolested lid just like that, who makes/made it, coz I bet its been discontinued for years now. :protest:

Ya its so much fun to build stuff you know you will never see reproduced by anyone again, heck try and find a vintage ultima lower chassis.
Its a like 23 year old chassis and getting to be very rare.

I'm quite happy with the way it came out and am looking forward to when I can get some fuel and test run it.

I bet it is much like my last wheely machine I built

sitting next to my HPI Rush
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/zues_lil_buddy/trucks.jpg
I built that one from a Traxxas Hawk and a NewBrite F350.
Would haul wheelies forever but if I feathered the throttle could control it great on dirt.
Took it to the not so local mini dirt track and I asked if I could run it in a race or just practice.
The guy laughed at me and said ''sure I'll let ya race HAHAHAAHAHA:jumpy: ''.
So durring practice it was kicking the other mini's(hobby grade) butts and the
guy that runs the place came up to me and said
''others have complained that it would not be fair for me to let you race your truck cause it is too fast''
He told me I could practice any time i wanted but couldnt race it hahahahahahahahahaha:offtopic:

Got any pics of any of your your projects?

Finally found what i am putting on it for rims and tires.
Front 2.2
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/zues_lil_buddy/Project/frontrim.jpg

Rear Maxx size
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/zues_lil_buddy/Project/rearrims.jpg

Wrapped in RoadRage's it should look sweet.
Man its hard to find matching rims in 2 different sizes.

M3mph1s
12-09-2007, 06:21 PM
That's because nobody is stupid enough to run two different rims that far apart in size on the same vehicle! =D
Kidding man!!! Looks great, must be loads of fun! Can't wait till I have enough parts for stuff like this, lol.

Looks great man, very creative. Just 1 question, what do you do for brakes? There isnt any disc setup on the tranny and there is only a throttle linkage off the servo. Ive run many a RC without brakes, Savages the most, the brake setup on them are hairy potlickers!

zueslilbuddy
12-21-2007, 01:17 PM
Well I reall don't need brakes they just get me in trouble lol
I ran electrics for many years and never had brakes on most of them, either had reverse which I never use for brakes or the electronic brakes which I think are a joke in most cases.
When I got my first maxx 2.5 the brakes were horrable, I just know when to let off and use steering for a little slowing action.

Oh and today figured out I'm going to set up some sort of e-brake on it with third channel.
Sort off the wheely bar a drag type brake or maybe even a chute :jumpy:

Guys I had to sell it and couldnt get anyone to buy it whole so I parted it out.
Would have never done it but at the time I was injured and out of work for a while and needed cash.

I never even got to run it...........SIGH~~~~
