on of the gears in my tmaxx 2.5 trans burned out any reasons why you think that could happen

Good chance it has some thing to do with your driving style.
Hard on the throttle, on throttle landing jumps, hitting reverse while still going forward?
Hard to guess no knowing how you treat it.
