Why won't they keep the **** radios and batteries already and just give us the vehicle? Most of their customers are return customers who already have the radio equipment. They advertise it as being able to be used for many models, yet each model comes with yet another dust collector....???? As for the batteries, most people have already upgraded into current technology with lipo's. Why charge me excess money for things I don't want, don't need and will never use, EVER ??? I would have all of the 1/16th mini e-revo "remixes" if I didn't have to pay double the money for stuff I don't need. Seriously, take away the batteries and radio and sell me the truck for $150 and I'll buy these things all day. Look at ebay for instance, type in the word Traxxas and see what comes up. Millions of useless things that people were forced to pay just to get something they wanted. Then all the extra effort to list it on Ebay and pay more fees. I don't get it. I mean, they don't charge me for square tires when I go to the Ford dealer to buy a car so why am we being charged for things we don't need.
On another note. It seems like every model is just a few parts different from the last "great idea" they came up with. Why not just sell conversion kits for these new and groundbreaking products. Who needs two or three of the same truck (with two or three radio's and some old fashioned batteries) just because they put a different body and tires on it??? Not me.
Last thing, why do the moderators of the Traxxas market place forum bite the hand that feeds them??? I mean we buy products form the company they work, essentially paying their salaries, and they go and wipe your threads clean just because you didn't follow a useless rule that doesn't matter to anyone. Funny thing is, they do it without even the common courtesy of "rubbing your nose it" so that you can learn from your mistake. Ok, I understand that you shouldn't swear and pick on people, but when I post pictures in a reply to my own thread, why does that make me in violation of anything??? They weren't dirty pictures, I cleaned the truck before I snapped the photos.
I hope Traxxas quits ripping people off too.

Actually a real "kit" is one you build like when I got into the hobby in my teens. The reason you see daddy and mommy spending boatloads of cash to have their kids' stuff repaired repeatedly by the LHS, is just this....

Seriously dude, you need to get laid, smoke a joint, sip a beer, and watch some comedy central, in that order. Breathe man, breathe. It's just a hobby. If you are getting that worked up over it you should probably take a break from it.

I work part time at my LHS, and this is exactly it. They come in and buy the "RTR" take it home, run it (into the curb) and next thing you know, they are back for a repair.. Personally I dont mind working on them for the kids, but if you walk away, and are not watching I put the tools down, and you're on your own.
And yes, I remember the days of the kits when you had to build the whole thing yourself. Nowdays, the companies take all the fun away by making them "plug and play" and some really dont get the chance to really learn about them.
Rant over.....

It never ceases to amaze the people at my LHS that I come in and ask intelligent questions, and do 99.9% of all my own work, even though I am new to the hobby (about 6 months now). Why am I able to do this? Simple. The first thing I do with each and every RC I buy from the very first is disassemble it completely, and reassemble it, so that I know each and every piece of my truck, where it is, how it works, if it has any weaknesses, and how I should drive my truck to avoid breaking that part.
Seriously people, take your **** apart and rebuild it, just once. The knowledge you will gain will be immense, and at least 75% of it will apply to every other RC you own.

You ar so correct about those activities you mentioned. This is why my last RC truck (Jato) is up for sale. I'm done with it all!!!!!
Yes, I have to agree...I wish they would sell kits or 80% preassembled kits. Like OFNA does. The stock stuff is worthless to me. The last 4 kits I got have usless electronics. Some have decent RTR electronics. Traxxas VXL is OK! The 2075 servo is a good strong digital servo. The VXL is good to rock. And I personally run the TRX link in several trucks. But with my Evader EXT2, Blitz and E Firstorm's electronics where all pulled out as soon as I got home. I just pull it all new and sell it off for $40-$50. Not a big deal, but I'll admit it would be nice to not pay the extra cash for AM radios, 50oz/in analog servos and brush esc's and motors that I have no interest in using.

Having these "RTR's" has made a tremendous impact on the hobby. Lets not forget that there is a HUGE segment of the industry of people who simply want to play. They will pay whatever money it takes, buy the mods, and pay the techs to work on their stuff. As long as the money is good, I for one wouldnt complain at all about repairing stuff ESP if you are working @ the LHS. Yes I admit it may not be glamorous or it may even (heaven forbid) cause you to break a sweat. But when 4 out of 10 americans are unemployed (some areas) any job is worth having ESP if you enjoy doing it. I do agree that those of us who work on our own rigs will exponentially surpass our counterparts, but I also know that the huge growth in the hobby can also be directly linked to the ease of use of all these RTR kits. If everyone needed a degree to play the hobby would ****. I think the RTR's are a great way to get people into the hobby and then they may progress onto "Kits" and not feel so overwhelmed. It is a very intimidating hobby, and unfortunatly very expensive as well. Just my opinion.
Dont't get mad because you have obviously passed the level of RTR's, respect them for their pro's and make others aware of their con's. It has made me think twice before my purchases, knowing how much useless **** is included in the price. But knowing this has allowed me to build a car for less than the RTR cost and have it to my spec. I am sure a good deal of RTR NIP buyers are 1st timers as well (either to the class or hobby).
