Here is a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to turn your Losi Micro SCT or Micro Rally into a Micro Buggy. 8-)

Redcat Racing Sumo 1/24 buggy body. http://www.redcatracing.com/s.nl/it.A/id.2820/.f

First thing I did was remove the front bumper and cut it down to a more appropriate size for a buggy. Next I removed the rear bumper assembly and only put the rear plate back on. After that I removed the side guards, and used the posts on the chassis as my body mounts. I then used a few pieces of s**** lexan to make my wing mounts, and cut out the fan section of the roof of my SCT body. Flip it upside down and CA glued it to the mounts. Voila a wing. Last was to cut side fins for the wing which I also just used some s**** lexan for.

Thanks, it was a fun project. I'm a buggy guy, so my micro had to be a buggy too lol.

Finally got the Rally wheels/tires mounted. Much more "buggy" like than the SCT wheels/tires.

Wing and mounts arrived today. Very little modding was required to get the mounts to bolt right onto the rear tower. The conversion is now officially complete.

Getting started on a carbon chassis conversion today. Thanks Scheer Design for the chassis. Here are pics of the carbon chassis pieces. Very nice finish, and quality. Can't wait to start tearing down the stock chassis.

Servo Installed

Just want to note that for anyone thinking about doing this conversion, you will have to open the servo up remove the top gear, and rotate it about 1/4 turn so that when the servo is centered and installed the horn faces straight down. The servo is in a stand up configuration in the stock Losi chassis but will be in a lay down configuration on the Scheer chassis.

Battery in place on the lower plate. Much nicer than having to pop the battery door on the stock chassis.

ESC/RX Board Installed. Since these pics I have cleaned the wiring up by eliminating the motor plug and direct soldering the ESC wires to the motor, and shortening the battery lead wires. Now I just need to figure out the body mounts, and it will be ready to rock and roll.

Got the body mounts done today. As you can see from the pics the lower plate is almost exactly 1/8" too wide per side for the body to completely cover the chassis. All in all though it looks good I think, and it doesn't bother me at all to have a little bit of exposed CF.
