hi have an old school t-maxx. the one that came with the .15 and has the exhaust out the bottom. curious about a bigger motor and if anyone has experience with doing this. preferably without major modifications. would like either a good .18 to put in or a .21 couple pics below. it is completely apart and being cleaned. they are from when i brought it home

okay cool. i fugred that is all i had to do was get the mount and exhaust. just didn't want to assume that and have it not work and have the hassle of exchange/return or stuck having to take a loss. as far as the 3.3 egnine. i'm still torn as to what i really want to drop in it. i still have to finish putting it back together and seeing how well it runs first. i'll keep that in mind.

you should get te 2.5 conversion kit for the maxx, that way you can get a sled carb set up ( ithink its only 20$) it comes with throttle bell crank, header and plastic pipe, then you gob uy your self a trx 2.5r and you are good to go, i did that same conversion on my .15 maxx and it ran great, the 3.3 would have the tendancy to twist you stock drive safts, you could goto 3.3 spec shafts and knuckles, but then you need the wide maxx arms ( id get rpm) and need longer turn buckles (id go lungsford) and if you got a FOC then that tranny would hold up good to the 3.3 ( trust me, been there broke that )

a good, but cheap engine is a hyper .21 but you will need a big block engine mount, (i would do a newer 3.3 it is longer)and yes a new exhaust...but with 1/8th or savage header, and pipe you are good you go

they are strong, long lasting engines. great for this type of project, or a beginner engine. ...p.s.. they have been making these for 10 years ...they are flawless...that is why 10 years and still selling.

What about the OS 18 CRV? It's a side exhaust rotary carb, should bolt right in

I have been told that the OS 18 CRV is a drop in motor and that it has plunty of power

i had already thought about the os .18 that is a drop in. i think i am going to go with that. or maybe an rb. i have a .15 that works coming in the mail from a trade so i am going to fit that and then i'll know what i need before a bit better motor. i read about big block converisons and they sound more of ahassle without a lot more mods so i don't just twist the thing up in a pretzel.
