I have a tmaxx 2.5.. I want to upgrade the motor to a 3.3.... the question is if I put the 3.3 on my truck will I need to upgrade the trans.. or axles? or is this a direct drop in....

the engine is a straight drop in but eventually the extra power will cause your driveline to fail depending on how hard you drive your truck. upgrading to CVD's is always a good idea.

You might just upgrade to 3.3 axles. They are plenty strong and still slide to extend/contract.
You'd need 3.3 axles, axle carriers, new bearings for said axle carriers, turnbuckles, and it wouldn't hurt to get the rubber boots for the pivot balls.
Its kinda expensive, but I think it's worth it. I did this on my E-Maxx to the rear first, then the front as well. I even chopped up some old 3.3 shafts to fit in the center between the tranny and the differentials. My driveline, aside from the tranny now, is bulletproof!
