Well, here is the situation...
You bend or break a hing pin and your local hobby shop doesn't have any in stock. So what are you choices? Wait for them to get some in, buy some on the net and wait for shipping...
I just grabbed a 16D nail, cut the head and tip off and it works great.

It is a little tighter to get it in, but the diameter is very close.
But all in all this should get you by in a pinch and keep you bashing.
