I am building a truck to jump high and want more and I am wanting to know the best mounting positions for the shocks to do this. I have seen where people have mounted the bottom of the shock closes to the wheel to try and lay them at an angle and I have seen some trucks with the opposite, ****hest from the wheel, which would give it more ground clearance but I don't know which to go with if anyone has any inpute I would greatly appreciate it

First off are you running the stock suspension? If so the stock shocks mounted in what ever position will end up blowing the top plastic cap's off the shocks when landing from big jump's. If you move the shocks out at the bottom it will make the truck more resistant to roll-over's in turns. If you move the shocks all the way in on the lower arms it will give you more ground clearance but you will end up bending shock shaft's and the truck will flip alot easier when cornering. You actually want the truck to bottom out on the skid plates before the shock's bottom out or you will bend the shock shaft's for sure.

I have an rmp set up on the truck, big bore shocks, and dual rate springs. I never thought about having to let the truck bottom out on the skids, I have been trying to figure out a way to absorb all that energy that makes since thanks

I used 60wt shock oil and I doubled up all of my springs with the stock type springs because thats all I had at the time just to try it out. It corners like crazy you actually gotta watch out depending on what your cornering on but the suspension is good and stiff and I never bottom out.
