I Broke My Spur Gear Jumping My Truck Today And I Was Looking At The Metal Spur, I Have Heard Good And Bad Things About Running A Metal Spur, Like If You Run Metal You Run A Larger Risk Of Tearing Up Tranny Gears, So I Am Undecided On Metal Or Plastic. Also How About The Gear Mesh, I Just Sold An Old Truck And How I Did That Truck Was Get Them Close As Possible. If Anybody Has Any Input Or Knows A Good Way To Mesh The Gears Or What's Better Metal Or Plastic Let Me Know

If I were you I would stay with the plastic spur just for the reason you mentioned above, a $5 or $6 dollar spur is cheap and easy compared to opening up the trans. When you change out the spur gear, put a small strip of notebook paper between the gears and push them up tight. When you remove the paper the mess should be just right. After you set up a few this way you will get the feel for how it should be in the future.

Good Luck

Thanks, I Have Seen People Who Run Metal Spur And Stock Tranny Gears I Just Kinda Agree I Would Rather Replace The Spur Than The Tranny Gears, Oh One More Question Have Any Of You Ever Heard Of Anyone Using Lock Washers On The Engine Mounts?

Blue loctite is your best bet, you can use lock washer's also if there is clearance just make sure the screw is long enough to get full thread engaugement.

I would stick to the plastic as well. I run plastic on my bigblock t-maxx with an axial.28. I can get like a gallon out of a spur gear. When meshed correctly they will last a long time. I have even stripped tranny gears running a plastic spur. If you are going to be doing alot of jumping I would not be afraid of loosining the slipper about 1/8th turn of so. This is relative to the engine you are running. Be sure you are not on the on the throttle when landing if possible. Just my 2 cents.
